Amazon Prime Video has assembled a buzzy cast for a heist thriller housed at Drama Republic, the UK production company behind Netflix hit One Day.
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, Saltburn breakout Archie Madekwe, and Bodies actor Jacob Fortune-Lloyd will headline the high-octane contemporary series Haven (working title).
Turner will play Zara, an office worker at pension fund investment company Lochmill Capital. Zara has her day upended when a gang of violent thieves burst in demanding she helps them steal billions of pounds of ordinary people’s pensions.
Madekwe features as Zara’s best friend Luke, while Fortune-Lloyd will play DCI Rhys, a detective with a recently relapsed gambling problem who must keep his own money troubles at bay as he examines the Lochmill Capital crime.
Haven marks the screenwriting debut of S.A. Nikias after he penned the City Blues Quartet crime novels under the pseudonym of Ray Celestin.
Drama Republic has paired Nikias’ script with I May Destroy You director Sam Miller, who will helm the first three episodes of Haven. Miller also serves as executive producer. Amazon MGM Studios is producing alongside Drama Republic.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said Haven is a “uniquely thrilling ride” that will provide a “gripping, addictive, entertaining” story for Prime Video subscribers.
Drama Republic’s Rebecca de Souza and Greg Brenman said they were “astonished” by Nikias’ debut script. “His rollercoasting, nail-biting and funny scripts have quite rightly attracted a tremendous cast and top-tier creative team,” they added.
Haven will premiere on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. [Source]
