Fashion and beauty bible InStyle is set to welcome the EE British Academy Film Awards with its biggest and best pre-Bafta celebration yet.
With additional supporting partners, including Bafta title sponsor EE, InStyle’s party to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the EE Rising Star Award – in association with Lancôme, Sky Living and Karen Millen – will be the hot ticket event in the run up to the awards evening.
The party’s ‘Made in Britain’ theme is mirrored in the March issue of InStyle, with a Bafta portfolio that brings together British fashion and British actors. Shot – and illustrated – by photographer and artist Ernesto Artillo, the resulting portraits of acting talent in designer looks are both distinctive and striking.
Designers in the Bafta portfolio include Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane and Roksanda, as well as new fashion sponsor Karen Millen.
InStyle editor Charlotte Moore says: “InStyle is synonymous with celebrity and style so our celebration of British talent, in honour of the Baftas, has become a favourite event on our calendar. We’re looking forward to an incredible event and the unveiling of our exclusive Bafta portfolio.”
Gemma Metheringham, chief creative officer at Karen Millen adds: “We are delighted to be involved in this year’s event. Being a sponsor of the Best of British Bafta party, in partnership with InStyle, is the perfect way to celebrate emerging creative talent in Britain as this is something we are passionate about at Karen Millen.”
The InStyle Bafta party, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the EE Rising Star Award, will take place on the evening of 2 February. InStyle’s Bafta portfolio is published in the March issue, on sale from 29 January.
Happy New Year everyone! Good to be back on the fanboy grind.
Late last fall, the word got out that Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning and Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld were among the young ladies being eyed to play young Jean Grey in Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Apocalypse, while Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet were under consideration for the role of young Cyclops.
Well, it looks like those names were preliminary because I got a new batch of names and these young folks are actually testing for the roles at this stage.
Producer Simon Kinberg has already stated that the film will bring in younger actors to play Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm.
For Young Cyclops the new contenders are Taron Edgerton, Jamie Blackley, and Tye Sheridan.
Taron brings his A game in the upcoming Kingsman (which was super hot by the way), Jamie was in If I Stay last year, and Tye Sheridan was in Mud back in 2012. Of this group, I like Taron the best.
For Young Jean Grey the new contenders are Sophie Turner and Saoirse Ronan.
Saoirse Ronan was all sorts of awesome in Hanna and Sophie Turner is Sansa Stark on Game Of Thrones. This one is a really tough call but I have to give a slight advantage to Ronan who was a straight up ninja in Hanna. She does action really well and was almost in Star Wars.
For Young Storm the contenders being mentioned for the first time are Alexandra Shipp and Zendaya Coleman. Alexandra played Aaliyah recently in Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B and will next be seen in Straight Outta Compton. Zendaya has a background in television with shows like Shake It Up, Zapped, and K.C Undercover. I’m placing my bet on Alexandra.
Cameras will start rolling on X-Men: Apocalypse in Montreal beginning this April, for a May 27, 2016 release.

I would love to see Sophie play Jean Grey! I hope this happens.
Your wait now has an endpoint: HBO just announced the premiere date for Game of Thrones season 5.
The launch date is not a big surprise as Thrones always tends to return around the same time each year. But now it’s official: Thrones will unveil its fifth season on Sunday, April 12. HBO will also launch the fourth season of Veep and the second season of Silicon Valley on the same date.
Thrones fans have seen practically nothing from the new season so far and over the next few months there are several key assets yet to be revealed. HBO has yet to release photos from the new season or a trailer of the eagerly awaited new season. There have been a couple teasers, a few seconds each, largely consisting of old footage.
The premiere date comes on the heels of HBO’s surprise announcement that Thrones will get a limited IMAX roll-out later this month. The big-screen presentation of HBO’s most successful series of all time begins Jan. 23 will include the final two episodes of season 4 and an exclusive trailer for the upcoming season. According to IMAX, this will mark the first time a TV series has been showcased in the format.
HBO also announced Thursday that Bill Maher’s Real Time talk-show has been renewed for a 14th and 15th season, and that comedian Tig Notaro (Transparent) has landed her first stand-up comedy special.
Another site has recognized Sansa Stark as a badass.
Sansa Stark (Game of Thrones)
I’ll be honest. Sansa was not always my favorite character. While I don’t know if I’d necessarily call her a favorite character of mine now, this year Sansa definitely came into her own on Game of Thrones. She has managed to take all of the horrible injustices she’s suffered and now uses them to make herself stronger. I’m sure we’ve all seen the “Sansa Stark Has Entered The Game” memes floating around. They’re fitting too because the Stark daughter has finally become a real force that could completely change Game Of Thrones.
Look at Sophie rocking the number 12 spot!

Badass Boss Moves: Poor Sansa. For most of her on-screen time, she’s been all about lemon cakes and not knowing what the hell to do. But now that Lord Baelish (Aidan Gillen) has essentially tricked her into a life with him, she’s trying to take back control by manipulating him. It’s exciting and also terrifyingly lemon-cake-free.
Princess Beatrice has once again become a part-time trader for charity. ADVICE FOR PARENTS
Children under 12 years must be accompanied by a responsible person aged 16 or over, approved by the parent/guardian, and prices are kept as low as possible to allow for this. A responsible person aged 16 or over approved by the parent/guardian can accompany up to six children to an event. Cheltenham Festivals maintains a Safeguarding Policy, but cannot act in loco parentis or take responsibility for unsupervised children. Please note that if your child is disruptive during an event you may be asked to remove him/her.
If you can’t wait until the next season of Game of Thrones for your Sansa fix, Sophie Turner has a solution for you. (Or perhaps two). Her first film, Another Me, based on the book by Catherine MacPhail, features the actress in multiple roles, as a teenage girl named Fay who feels like she’s being stalked by someone who looks just like her, and who is slowly taking over her life. Neighbors spot this other girl in the stairwell — even though Fay only takes the elevator. Teachers and fellow students say they interacted with her on the day Fay stays home sick. Could the look-alike be Fay’s mean-girl rival who is her understudy in the school play? Or someone more sinister? It’s enough to make someone go a little crazy — prompting a moment where Fay chops off her long locks just so people can tell the two of them apart. Turner chatted with Vulture about doppelgängers, Kit Harington’s hair, and why she wants Sansa to go on a killing spree.
